Red is NOT Green!
Last week, after a month of being in Orlando, my girls and I finally headed home. We were so ready to see everyone that we decided to make our trip a few days early. As we got closer to home, I made one of the biggest discoveries of my life: Red is NOT green!!! And neither is orange!!! These may seem like obvious statements to some, but I am colorblind. I had never seen the color that trees turn in the fall. All I can see with my natural eyes are green and muted shades of red that often look brown. There’s no distinction in my vision. This time though, I saw things differently. Earlier this year, I received a pair of glasses that put a red filter on my vision and allow me to see color like I never have. As I got closer to home, I was overwhelmed by how submerged I was in colors I had never experienced. When the glasses were off, I saw only greens, and yellows. Once I saw through my new lenses, color engulfed me. I can hardly explain the emotion I felt at finally seeing the world as it actually was.
Pro-vision Why does the above story matter, and what does it have to do with provision? Everything! As you know my family and I are embarking on a new journey that requires provision. Perhaps you are in your own place of needing provision. Well let me encourage you today! When I came home from our stay in Orlando, I was astonished to find out that I had been living my whole life surrounded by a reality of color but had never really understood it. Yes, I had heard about the beautiful colors of fall, but I couldn’t see them no matter how hard I tried. It wasn’t until I received the gift of those glasses that I could see what was truly surrounding me. We are the same way. So many people walk around trying to see, some even believing or knowing that there must be something more. But how can they see!? How can anyone see properly through dull, muted, natural vision. The answer is that no one can. This of course is where the wonderful part comes in. Perhaps you already know or have guessed it. There is a gift, a provision, a red filter if you will, that will allow you and any other person who wants it to see in true color. That gift of course is the blood of Christ. His love poured out is the tint of red that we need in order to see with distinction. It is His blood that allows us to see reality; to see truth, to see His Kingdom that exists around us. He is here. His name is Emanuel- God with us, and He has given us every provision, every good thing, in Christ.
His divine power has granted to us all things pertaining to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us according to his glory and excellence - 2 Peter 1:3
Let me encourage you today to put on Christ and to allow His blood to wash over you and change your vision. Come see what cannot be imagined with natural vision. Come see the riches all around and know that whatever your need, you are cared for by the One who sees it all.
Each one of us finds our true home in Jesus. He is the place where we come to find safety and rest; He is the place where we can eat and drink and be filled. He is our shelter and greatest source of joy. Our prayer for you is that the closer you get to Him, your true home, the more aware you will become of His glorious beauty. May you have eyes that see the world and all those within it through the lens of His blood. May you have eyes to see Him in the fullness of His colorful wonder. May you have eyes to see the heavenly and not just the natural. We bless you, and we pray for you this kind of provision!
