I am in awe of God!
I recently arrived home from Mozambique and what God did there totally blows my mind! The people of Mozambique were so ready to receive Jesus! Many were begging us to pray for them, demons began to manifest when we prayed for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and there were so many miracles! I truly saw that the harvest is ripe! As I tell you some stories from my trip, I want to remind you, we as Christians have not “arrived.” We must keep leaving the places of comfortability where we are. People need Life, and complacency on our part is a real killer.
The first story I want to tell you is about a little old lady who started talking to me through my translator before a youth crusade. It was a casual conversation, but in my heart I knew she was struggling physically. I asked her, “What’s going on in your body?” She told me that she had been having shoulder pain and had trouble with her eyes. I said to her, “Let’s pray,” and as soon as I laid my hands on her the presence of Jesus showed up so strong! I didn’t want to pray and make it about me or what I was saying, so I just held her face and whispered the name of Jesus. After about a minute I asked her, “What did you feel while I was praying?” She said, “It felt like something moving inside me. It was nice. It felt good!” When I asked her how her shoulder was feeling she said it felt better, and when I asked her about her eyes she said they were better too! Her problem had been with seeing far away, so we tested her eyes from a distance, and she passed the test. It was incredible!
Another story I want to tell you is from a time I was finishing up a youth crusade. I was calling a group of children to make a decision for Christ, when a man came off the street and started saying, “I receive it sir!” I instantly saw his shoulder was wrapped in a sling so I said, “Sir, stay here! I’m going to pray for you when I’m done.” Many of the youth gave there lives to Jesus, and after I was done speaking with them I walked over to this man. He smelled like he had had too much to drink the night before, and I could tell he was still buzzing. His wife was with him. I asked him what was going on with his shoulder, and he explained that he had been in a motorcycle accident and his shoulder had never gotten better. I said, “I want to pray for you.” As I began to pray, this man began to shake violently and lift both arms. Once I said, “Amen,” he fell and caught himself with his hands. After a minute, we got him to his feet and asked him what he experienced. He told us he felt a power surge through his body, so I asked him to do something he couldn’t do before. He started doing push ups! His rowdiness gathered a crowd of about 20 people, so I told him to share his testimony with them. His wife wife also testified. Then, My translator helped me preach the Gospel to the gathered crowd and call them to repentance. They all gave their lives to Jesus! After I finished talking to them about how to live for Him, I turned around to see a teacher in the doorway of the school. I realized we had made this big commotion right outside of her classroom. I went over and started to apologize to her. She said it wasn’t a problem, but it opened a door for me to ask her about her faith. She responded about not liking church and not going, but because she saw what just happened I got to point to Jesus and share with her about relationship with Him. I told her we don’t put our hope in church and people, but in Jesus. It was wonderful! It was as if Jesus set up this whole situation up just to minister to this lady. Jesus surely does go after the one!
Things like this just seemed to happen everywhere we went. We even got to go to a night school and a teachers college. God opened so many doors for the Gospel to be heard and received, and was healing many as we went. In all, I got to personally see over 20,000 decisions for Jesus. I was also able to give each student a follow up booklet and connect them with a local church and program to help them grow in Christ.
After several weeks of youth crusades, I got to help with a city crusade, and man, did we see Jesus move! We saw thousands every night come to Jesus and receive healing. It was astounding what God did. I was so blessed to see so many people come to Jesus! It made the weeks away from my family worth while. Thank you for each of you who has continued to sow in prayer, finance, and support of my family. Together we are reaping a mighty harvest of souls whom we will stand next to in heaven as we worship Jesus, our King! May all of our efforts together bring glory to His name, and a rich reward to you when you stand before Him one day.
Our next trip will be to the Dominican Republic at the end of November. My oldest daughter, Jovannah, will be joining me, as well as my mother in law, Elizabeth. Please keep us in your prayers as we and the rest of our team go.
Blessings in the harvest,
Edward Funk
